thanksgiving 2016 review
How was your Thanksgiving? My mom, sister, and I drove down to my aunt's house in Beaufort Thursday morning and helped prep before the big meal! We normally eat around 1:00 (apparently some people wait until evening to eat??), and my aunt, who is a painter, painted individual place tags for everyone - so pretty! I always leave her house with a new favorite wine, and this time it was Meiomi pinot noir. Somehow my grandma's macaroni and cheese didn't make the cut - still determining how that happened - but we didn't go hungry! Lots of veggies, casseroles, and turkey to go around.
Later on in the afternoon the cousins went out for a short boat ride where we watched the most beautiful sunset. Since no one was hungry for dinner we all sat around the fire pit and chatted for hours. We felt like it was the middle of the night by the time we left for bed, but it was only 10:00!
Friday we had our oyster roast at my grandparents' house in Edisto. Luckily neither house in Beaufort or Edisto was hit badly by Hurricane Matthew, but it was still crazy to see how much sand had washed onto the shore from the storm, even almost two months later. Mo had such a great time smelling all the coast smells and eating everyone's dropped food too! :) The weekend ended up being way too warm for me to wear what I'd planned on (UGH), but that made the boat ride back to Edisto SO nice and pleasant, instead of freezing like it's been in recent years.
The rest of this weekend I spent listening to my holiday playlist, doing house things, prepping for holiday decorating, and shopping the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend sales! There are still plenty live today, so check out my holiday guides if you'd like! Happy Monday!
