dreamy interiors

Remember this post? The one where I talked about the joys and pains of living at home after graduating. I wanted to write that post so that I could look back and remember what it was like, because plans were in the making when I posted, but I didn't want to jinx them so I didn't say anything at the time. Now that my plans finally set, I can finally spill the beans. I'm moving!

*applause, cheers, laughter, and roars from the crowd*

I found my new apartment thanks to a friend, and like they often do, things happened pretty quickly. Those House Hunter shows that teach you you can't get everything you want? They're right. For my house, I chose location over everything else. It's in a great location, but it's definitely not the biggest, and it needs some updates. Does it have nice, updated appliances? Not at all, but it has a stove that cooks (hopefully) and a refrigerator that does its job, so I can't complain! Right now the walls are the color of a hearing aid, but I've gotten a couple of cans of fresh white paint, so I'll get those brightened up this weekend!

Over the past week or so I've been perusing different home decor shops, trying to find the right balance between affordable (i.e. Craigslist, IKEA, Target) and investment pieces (Anthropologie, Pottery Barn, West Elm). As someone who likes to curate everything in sight, the project is slightly daunting, mostly exciting. I've put together a mood board of my dream furniture and decor, so my hope is to find great budget finds to fit that look!

So now I have a question for you - what was your first week in your apartment like?
